Volunteer Opportunities 

Individual Volunteering​

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Groveland Food Shelf. Our passionate and devoted volunteers are an important part of our ability to feed our neighbors. The recent response from the community has been wonderfully overwhelming. If you are able to fill one of the needs below please complete the Contact Us form and we will get back to you as soon as we can. What we need right now is: 

• Need consistent volunteer(s) each Tuesday or Thursday 8-12 noon to unload and sort food deliveries. 2 hour minimum shift.

• Need consistent volunteer(s) M, W or Friday for a 2 hour min shift from 8:30-12:30 to help stock shelves and help guests. 

• It takes time to train so unfortunately do not have capacity for one time volunteering. ​​

Volunteering Tasks at Groveland

 

• Food Handling: Unloading vans, wheeling carts, sorting food into boxes for distribution.

• Maintenance: Taking out trash, recycling, composting, and performing basic cleanup tasks like sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and wiping down tables.

• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 30-50 pounds is helpful but not required. Tasks are available for all abilities.

Volunteer Expectations​

 

• Commitment: Ideally, volunteers should commit to at least two shifts per month, every month. It takes time to train so unfortunately do not have capacity for one time volunteering. 

• Everyone with dignity and respect.

• Safety Policies: Zero tolerance for hate speech, weapons, drugs, and alcohol on the premises.

On Arrival

When you arrive, you will be expected to read our Code of Conduct and sign a
commitment to adhere to our principles. Groveland Food Shelf values safety, dignity, respect, and kindness, ensuring a positive and inclusive environment for all.

Group Volunteering

Due to our small space, we are not setup to handle one-off group volunteering. If you have a group that would like to support Groveland Food Shelf, please consider a food drive. Complete the Contact Us form and a food drive coordinator will be in touch. ​
