Need Food? We Can Help!

Are you eligible for food?

If you need food then you are eligible.

On your first visit, you will be asked to fill out a short form. Name and birthdate are the most important pieces of information, as we report how many people we serve by age category.

You will be given a brief orientation of the variety of foods and household items we have available and how our client led shopping works. You may select up to a certain number of items based on your household size.

Groveland is proud to operate a client choice model where you shop for what you like and need from what we have available. Groveland has remained committed to this client choice model throughout the COVID-19 pandemic by adhering to CDC guidelines.

After the first visit, you will be asked your name and you'll be able to start shopping. If you have questions, there are staff and volunteers available to help you.

Neighborhood Food Shelf

Groveland is a food shelf serving adults and families. Most of our clients live in the area just south of downtown Minneapolis. Hunger Solutions Minnesota operates an interactive website to help determine the closet Food Shelf for you.

21st Academy

Groveland has a new collaboration with Liberty Community Church in North Minneapolis.  Liberty has a rich history of social programs one of which is the 21st Century Academy, an after-school program that currently operates as a WiFi pod for students not able to access the internet at home.  While at the church, the students are fed meals cooked on site three days a week. We have been supplying meats and produce used by Liberty’s cook. Additionally, Groveland has made a contribution to Liberty’s Emergency Fund for community members with food challenges.

MCTC Food Pantry

Groveland Food Shelf operates a satellite location at the Minneapolis College (MCTC) for enrolled students and their families. This location operates with the same client choice model where students choose their food and household items. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, online ordering for non-perishables is now available. When students arrive to pick up their order they have access to fresh produce, dairy and meat as well. If you are a student of MCTC and would like to use this service, connect with the Student Support Center at the College.
